The Journey

We believe that every person on earth has a life journey. The day when you give your life to Christ like it says:

“For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16

your journey becomes one of transformation in Christ. There is power in this journey. As you submit to the change that comes from aligning your heart and life to the Word of God, it transforms you into a new person.

“until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ. Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.” – Ephesians 4:13-15

Your journey now becomes part of a kingdom of believers and their journeys and together, as the body of Christ, we grow through togetherness into mature believers and unity in faith. We highly value sharing our journeys and “doing life together” and believe that transformation and growth happens through relationships. We believe that by living our lives according to the values of the Word in our marriages, families and homes, we can create a sanctuary or a safe place for new believers and find Christ.

Gerhard & Melinda Roodt

Senior Pastors

Gerhard and Melinda Roodt are the Senior Pastors of Delta Community Church and started
out in ministry in 1990. After a prophetic word in 1998 that spoke of "many streams
flowing into one body" ( literally meaning Delta), they founded Delta Community Church and Centre in 2001, together with their leadership team. Their passion is to build the Kingdom of God in people's hearts as well as the broader community and to bring the church to unity in faith and maturity in Christ. They influence people's lives by living and highly validating biblical values. They believe in the power of the journey and that it transforms us into fully devoted followers of Christ, living fully in the Divine pattern for our lives.

Gys & Elza De Beer

Elders

Dr Gys de Beer is a highly respected General Practitioner in the Vaal. He established his practice in Vereeniging in 1977 with special interest in cosmetic surgery. They were always aware that God had a specific calling for them to be part of establishing a bible-based, community-focused church in the Vaal. They are founding members of Delta Community Church and have a passion to expand and build the Kingdom of God as well as build the local community. They are elders and Dr Gys is the chairperson of the Delta Financial Board. He established and chairs Care For You, a Delta project which is a home based care ministry that serves the community with basic medical assistance at home. He is also a director of Cormed, a private hospital in Vanderbijlpark.

Meshack & Paula Mahlase

Elders

Meshack and Paula Mahlase were both involved in the education system attaining BA and B.Ed degrees, from Unisa respectively. Meshack also attained his M.Ed at the Randse Afrikaanse University - (RAU) Meshack worked in the Department of Education as a school inspector and Paula as a school principal. Meshack and Paula have been part of the ministry since 1994 and later became elders in Delta Community Church as well as leaders of the Intercession Ministry, where their first passion lies. Meshack is an evangelist at heart with a passion to bring in the lost, while Paula mentors young women. Together they have a passion for family enhancement and marriage enrichment.

Marina Jordaan

Elder

Marina is an established business owner. Her business is built and managed on Godly principles and integrity. She is actively involved in this Kingdom Community with a heart sold out to impact, build and support the body of Christ. Marina is an elder, and strongly believes that God is using her gift of hospitality and her home as temporary sanctuary to many, and exhibits a true shepherds heart.

What we believe

God-centered

We believe in one eternal God, Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons, God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe that through sin we were separated from God and His purpose for our lives. We believe that only through Jesus Christ who is both God and Man, can we be reconciled to God. Christ lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place and rose again to sit at the right hand of God the Father representing us before Him.

Cell groups

We believe in the value of Cell Groups as life changes happens in small groups.

Marriage & family

We believe that marriage and family are God’s first design and are central to God’s plan. We highly esteem these as they are the foundation of society.

People of integrity

Upholding humility, honour, faithfulness, truthfulness, generosity, forgiveness, respect and love.

Mindful that every person is significant

We believe in treating all people equally as they are created in the image of God; He has planned and destined them for His Kingdom and are therefore important.

Bible-based

We believe in the Bible, Old and New Testament as the absolute and final authority; that it provides direction and the standards by which we should practice our faith.

New birth

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness for our sins, we need to repent and be “born again” and be baptized in water. We believe in the infilling of the Holy Spirit including the speaking in tongues.

Kingdom community/church

We believe in the power of a Kingdom Community and the significance of believers meeting together regularly, doing life together, praying, worshipping and using communion together.

Representation & sanctuary

We believe in representing the lost before God and through sound and accurate biblical teaching and living, be a sanctuary/safe place to those who are in need and without hope.

Excellence

We believe that excellence honours God and inspires people.

Worship lifestyle

We believe in living everyday life as worship unto the Lord Jesus Christ and that we will worship Him only.

Spirit-led

We believe in the Holy Spirit and strongly desire Him to lead us in all areas of our lives.

Discipleship

We as a Kingdom Community believe in discipleship, the process of transformation that begins when a person is born again. Lost people matter to God therefore they matter to us.

Maturity & Unity

We believe in being transformed into mature followers of Christ, displaying Him through unity in faith.

Servant leaders

We believe that God works through anointed and humble leaders and the church should function as a unified community of lifelong servants with men and women living out their spiritual gifts and calling.

A Godly influence in the world

We aim to establish biblical standards and principles in our communities.

Heaven & hell

We believe that we will spend eternity in either heaven or hell, depending on our response to Jesus Christ our Lord.

2nd coming of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back for His prepared Bride.

D – Development

We believe that anointed Bible based teaching results in transformed lives. We therefore actively pursue a lifelong process of spiritual growth through prayer, worship and Bible Study. We believe that it should be normal for every believer to be chasing after total devotion to Christ and His cause.

E – Empower

We believe that every Christ follower has unique gifts and should seek their place of service within the local church to build the Kingdom.

L – Love

We believe that people matter to God and therefore ought to matter to the church. We believe that every facet of our life should be based on mutual relationships of love, care, accountability, respect, humility and representation. In living exemplary lives based on integrity, we honour God through a spirit of excellence in everything we do. We believe that we should mirror Christ’s love to the world and inspire people to do likewise.

T – Together

We believe that life change happens best in small groups where Christ followers can be real, where their needs can be met and where they will receive ministry in an atmosphere of trust, support and total unconditional acceptance as part of a covenant relationship.

A – Abundance

We believe that everything we have belongs to God. As such we desire to be responsible stewards of God’s financial resources, and we know that this principle extends to every area of our lives, our time, families, gifts and bodies.
